This article is collected from an interesting article written
by JamieWieck. I would love to share with all of you who are starting to learn
graphic design. Hopefully, you will learn something from this article.
1. You are not the first
There have been thousands of
people opening their studios, doing freelance work, or getting a job at a
foreign company
2. People who are better than you, are always available
No matter how good you are, there
will always be someone better than you, even 10000 times, so do not waste your
time worrying about it.
3. Succeeding is not a finite resource.
Schools often infect your head that someone will fail if you
win. But in fact, the success of others does not affect you at all.
4. You can not succeed if there is no
goal
Try to think, if you do not know what you want, how you can
pursue it. Set a goal that gives you a destination, and of course, a point to
start.
5. Everything starts at the beginning needs a strong motivation
You take a lot of hard work to
get started rather than stopping. Keep this in mind.
6. The road you are choosing is more
comfortable than you think
To get into the design
industry, you need only three things: good workability, abundant energy and an
open personality. But many forget about the last factor.
7. Keep yourself image
Your perception is the most important asset, let's look at
yourself as the person you want to become, and everyone else will.
8. Make a personal website simple and unique
Porfolio is the starting point as
well as the end of your career, with the great advancement of technology today,
there is no reason why you do not have a website.
9. Be thorough with your work
Never stop editing your
portfolio. Three good products are always more than 10 bad ones, no one cares
about quantity, only quality is counted.
10. Listen to your heart
If your product does not make you happy, it will not make you
happy. It is very difficult to forge enthusiasm in trivial products, throw them
away!
11. Let your product easy to view
People who are lazy, if you want
people to see your work, make it easy to see. Many customers just need to view
JPG or PDF file.
12. Write the address manually
Customers, investors, and potential customers are attracted
to letters that have handwritten addresses, you know, intimate relationships
often go far.
13. Time is precious, go straight to
work
Avoid jokes as well as gimmicks when contacting studios for
work, they know your moves, be frank, so they will be more grateful to you.
14. Never work without salary
It's a crime that the studios do not pay the salaries (even
if it's the minimum). Those studios are not worth for the effort.
15. Try to work in as many places as you can
Probation is a financial burden,
but it is quite important. It helps you earn a lot of experience as well as
find the right place for you.
16. Do not waste your probationary period
The work in a studio can be boring or interesting, do not care
about it and always remember that it is your duty to find out what to do.
17. Make friends in the print shops
Having a good relationship with the printers is invaluable,
and they will save you money and help protect the environment.
18. Find hand-made furniture stores
Such places are invaluable
resources with unique and affordable artifacts that are prepared for you to re-
decorate.
19. Be patient
It is normal for you to not find a suitable place after many
rehearsals, try the studio you did not apply for.
20. Always make questions
Put hypotheses on things, ask questions, even if you think
you know the answer, believe me, you will be surprised by my little knowledge.
